Apology wanted by Zimbabwe after funeral walkout

4:10 pm on 4 August 2010

The government in Zimbabwe has demanded that three western diplomats apologise for walking out of a burial ceremony on Sunday for the President's late sister.

The BBC reports envoys from the United States, Germany and the European Union left after President Robert Mugabe used his address to tell western nations, to 'go to hell' for interfering in his country's affairs.

US Ambassador Charles Ray said he left the ceremony because he was disappointed in Mr Mugabe's conduct. He said he had nothing to apologise to Mr Mugabe for.

The BBC reports Sabina Mugabe died in the capital, Harare, at the age of 76, after suffering a stroke five years ago.
