A suicide bomb has exploded near the German embassy and a US military base in the Afghan capital Kabul, killing at least three people and wounding about a dozen including four US soldiers.
A child is among the dead.
The Taleban movement claimed responsibility for the blast, the first to hit Kabul this year after a series of bloody attacks in 2008.
Surrounding buildings were damaged and a tanker and two vehicles were set on fire.
