Google hit by 'human error'

3:13 pm on 1 February 2009

Google's search service has been hit by technical problems, with users unable to access search results.

Google says users got an erroneous message when they did searches on many sites, saying: "This site may harm your computer."

The problem began at 1430 GMT and ended at 1525 GMT.

On its blog the company wrote: "What happened? Very simply, human error."

Google said it flags search results with the message when a site is known to install malicious software.

Instead, many other sites were affected.
