Iran says it is yet to take a final decision on the stoning of a woman convicted of adultery and complicity in her husband's murder.

In a case that has sparked international outrage Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani, 43, a mother of two, was sentenced to death by stoning in June for her role in the murder of her husband by her lover.

The Foreign Ministry says severe sentences are never carried out without exhaustive judicial consideration.
