The Australian Navy has intercepted yet another asylum seeker boat in waters north of Christmas Island.

The ABC reports 33 passengers and two crew were on board. They will be taken to Christmas Island for processing.

Another boat with 36 passengers and two crew was intercepted on Friday near Scott Reef in the Timor Sea.

The ABC reports three other boats were intercepted last week.

Seven boats reached Australian waters during the election campaign.

Opposition immigration spokesman Scott Morrison said on 19 August that there had not been this many boats arriving since 1999.
