Two bird flu cases in four days reported in Egypt

Egypt has reported its second bird flu case in four days.

The Health Ministry says an 18 month old boy was admitted to hospital on Saturday and is now in a stable condition.

On Wednesday, the ministry reported a two-year-old boy in the Suez province was in hospital after contracting the virus.

A total of 55 bird flu cases have now been reported in Egypt, since 2006. Egypt has had the most cases outside of Asia.

Since 2003, the virus has infected 404 people in 15 countries and killed 254.
