Dresden bombings marked

9:12 am on 15 February 2009

A march to mark the anniversary of the Allied bombing of Dresden during World War II has drawn an estimated 25,000 people in the city.

British and American bombers attacked Dresden in three waves on 13-14 February, 1945.

The march on Saturday was peaceful.

However, there were clashes with police and counter-demonstrators at another march involving 6000 people. Left and right wing groups had to be kept apart.
