Firefighter hurt battling bushfire

Two New South Wales firefighters remain in hospital after being injured while battling bushfires in Victoria.

The New South Wales Rural Fire Service says the men were hurt when a tree branch fell on them in the Gippsland region.

One man has a chipped vertebrae, cracked rib and broken ankle, while the other is being assessed for a cracked vertebrae.

It's expected the pair will stay in hospital for several days.
