Official kidnapped by Taliban in Swat valley

A provincial official in the Swat valley in northern Pakistan has been abducted by the Taliban.

North West Frontier Province district coordination officer Khushal Khan, district coordination officer of Swat was kidnapped on Sunday with six of his bodyguards.

He was on his way to Mingora, the main town in Swat.

Government officials say both sides are working to secure his release.

An estimated 250,000 - 500,000 have fled the valley where some 1200 people have been killed there since 2007.

A 10-day ceasefire is in place. It is due to end on Wednesday.
