Another group of detainees are staging a rooftop protest at the Villawood Detention Centre in Sydney.
Detainees say one member of the group is a woman who is four months pregnant, who has not eaten for two days.
The ABC reports one of the men says they do not intend to come down.
"We've got 10 people here and we want our freedom. We've been here a long time .. and yesterday it's too bad here. We want out," he said.
The Department of Immigration says the new protest began about 8am on Wednesday.
It said there were nine people are on the roof, but could not confirm whether a pregnant woman was among them.
She says the officers at the centre are trying to talk them down, stressing that they are not illegal boat arrivals.
