New fire overnight in Victoria

Hundreds of firefighters in Victoria worked through the night to protect a resort town in the Dandenong Ranges from new bushfires.

Daylesford, about 110km northwest of Melbourne, and surrounding communities were under threaten on Monday night from a fire burning a few kilometres away.

It was fanned by a strong southwesterly breeze.

Daylesford is a popular tourist town, famous for mineral springs. It has a population of 2100.

The death toll from the 7 February fires is now 210.

Four other fires are still out of control in the state.
