Tour de France winner tests positive for banned drug

The cyclist who won the 2010 Tour de France has tested positive for a banned substance.

Alberto Contador's press officer said he tested positive for clenbuterol, a weight-loss drug, during a test during the tour in July.

In a statement, the spokesman said the Spanish rider was the victim of food contamination and would hold a news conference on Thursday.

Cycling has struggled with doping allegations for years and in 2006 Floyd Landis was stripped of his tour title after a positive drugs test.
