Netball skipper Sharelle McMahon has been named as the Australian team's flag-bearer for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi on Sunday.
The ABC reports it is her fourth Commonwealth Games campaign; 1998 in Kuala Lumpur; 2002 in Manchester; and the 2006 Games in Melbourne.
McMahon, 33, led her team to gold at the 2007 world netball championships in Auckland. The ABC reports she has played in 107 Tests for Australia.
Chef-de-mission Steve Moneghetti made the announcement on Friday.
"The qualities [of a flag bearer are] success, longevity and leadership and most importantly leadership," he said.
"Sharelle has shown those traits and been a fantastic leader for the Australian netball team."
McMahon said it was a "huge shock" to receive the honour.
