Suspended football chief says he feels like a victim

One of two Oceania football officials suspended by the sport's governing body has arrived back in New Zealand and has criticised FIFA over its handling of the case, saying he feels like a victim.

At a news conference in Auckland, Reynald Temarii, said FIFA cleared him of all serious charges, but has now banned him for one year on two new charges of breaching confidentiality and behaviour not becoming of a FIFA official.

Mr Temarii says he is seeking more information from FIFA on the charges, and will then decide whether he will appeal.

He criticised the governing body, saying it told him privately that he was free of the serious corruption charges, but says that it did not mention this when it publicly announced his ban.

Mr Temarii also hit out at the British Sunday Times, describing a video shot by them as "a fabrication of evidence".

He says he has found 153 errors in a transcript of the recording by the Sunday Times, and says the paper used snippets from the video completely out of context.

Mr Temarii says he has started legal action against the paper.
