A missile fired by a pilotless US drone aircraft in Pakistan's North Waziristan region has killed at 13 people.
The strike took place in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan tribal region, a known hotbed of Taliban and al Qaeda militants near the Afghan border, about 3am Pakistan time on Saturday.
"Two missiles were fired from a suspected US drone at the compound of a local tribesman, killing eight people," a security official said.
According to security officials and local residents, the dead included some foreign militants.
But a Taleban spokesperson said all the dead were civilians.
