Britain lowers intake for skilled immigrants

6:38 pm on 25 November 2010

The British government has announced measures to reduce immigration.

The number of skilled workers who will be allowed into Britain from outside the European Union is to be capped at 21,000 per year, a considerable reduction on the present figure.

The restrictions will not apply to relatively high earners transfered to Britain by their employer.

Prime Minister David Cameron says the move will have a substantial impact.
