Three arrested over $90 million gold theft

Police in China have arrested three men in connection with the theft of $US90 million in gold from Hong Kong.

In a statement, the Hong Kong government said the three were arrested on Friday in Guangdong and returned to the territory.

According to a report in the China Daily, they are suspected of stealing 265 pieces of bullion, each weighing 1 kg, from a warehouse in Hong Kong's New Territories.

Police found most of the gold in a car on the Hong Kong side of the border.
