NATO said the incident happened on Sunday. No further details were issued about the attack or the nationality of the soldiers.
The BBC reports the toll is the highest for foreign soldiers in a single incident since six were shot and killed by a renegade border policeman on 29 November.

More than 670 foreign troops have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year, well above the 502 killed in the whole of 2009.
