Police to review public meeting permits - Fiji Times

3:14 pm on 19 April 2009

The Fiji Times is reporting that all public meeting permits have been revoked as a result of the Public Emergency Regulation.

The newspaper says applications for permits are now being reviewed by the police instead of divisional commissioners.

Permanent Secretary for Defence Josefa Matau says this is to ensure that the police have the final say in ensuring gatherings comply with the new emergency protocols.
