Hundreds of student musicians are trying to beat the weather in the United States to get to London, where they scheduled to perform in a parade on New Year's Day.
But the east coast of the US is at a standstill after heavy snow and about a thousand musicians and cheerleaders - about a quarter of those due to take part in the event - have had their flights cancelled. They are stuck at Newark, JFK and Boston airports.
Airlines say normal service will not resume until at least Tuesday, after all New York City airports were closed on Monday.
British Airways said most flights to and from Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington were cancelled or delayed.
