Year of the crash helmet in Thailand

12:32 pm on 6 January 2011

The government in Thailand has declared 2011 to be 'The Year of the Crash Helmet' in an effort to reduce the number of injuries among motorbike riders and their passengers.

The new campaign, which will involve every ministry, aims to persuade all motorcyclists to wear helmets.

The BBC reports public servants will be compelled to wear helmets when travelling to and from work. Students will also have to.
