The flood threat in northern New South Wales is falling slowly.
The ABC reports the Clarence River has been falling steadily from its peak of 7.61 metres In Grafton.
However, the State Emergency Service residents should remain vigilant.
So far 8500 people are isolated by floodwaters across the state and there have been almost 2000 evacuations.
Meanwhile, the Pacific highway remains cut by north and south of Grafton.
The ABC reports water is across the highway at Halfway Creek north of Coffs Harbour and near Ulmurra and Iluka north of Grafton.
A final flood warning has been issued for the Bellinger River. The SES says water levels in the river are falling steadily.
Most low-level bridges in the Upper Macleay are still under water.
