Swiss bank forced to re-think style guide

Swiss bank UBS, derided in December after it issued a detailed guide to its staff on dress and style, has been obliged to have a re-think.

The 44-page guide suggested, among other things, that staff should avoid garlic or onions on their breath, male staff should not wear bracelets or earrings and female staff should wear flesh-coloured underwear.

The guide was widely mocked when it was issued to staff at five UBS branches in Switzerland, the BBC reports.

A bank spokesperson says a smaller booklet with revised guidelines is being issued.
