ICC to consider day-night cricket test matches

8:45 pm on 10 May 2009

Cricket's governing body will hold a two-day meeting in London to discuss the possibility of playing day-night test matches and to find ways of keeping the one-day format relevant amid Twenty20's growing popularity.

The International Cricket Council's cricket committee will also look at the umpires referral system, which allows players to call for television reviews, at the meeting at Lord's this week.

The referral system was first introduced nine months ago and trialled in four test series.

The committee will consider whether or not to recommend a continuation of the system.
