Time for re-think of Fiji suspension - Tonga PM

6:15 am on 16 May 2009

The Prime Minister of Tonga, Feleti Sevele, says he wants to discuss Fiji's suspension from the Pacific Forum with New Zealand Prime Minister John Key.

Dr Sevele is in New Zealand to deliver an annual Pacific Co-operation Foundation lecture.

He says it's time for a re-think of Fiji's suspension and a new approach is needed.

Fiji was suspended from the Forum after failing to meet a deadline of 1 May for setting a date to hold elections this year.
