Norway wins Eurovision Song Contest

Norway has won the Eurovision Song Contest held in Moscow.

Singer and violinist Alexander Rybak beat 24 other contestants in the Russian capital.

A total of 42 countries voted on the 25 songs, with Norway scoring a record 387 points with its winning song Fairytale.

Iceland came second in the vote, followed by Azerbaijan which took the third place.

It was the third time Norway has won the competition, one of the most watched television shows in Europe every year.

Alexander Rybak, 23, who was born in the former Soviet Union, is a well-known musician in Norway.
