Flood warning in Western Australia

12:41 pm on 12 February 2011

Residents around Carnarvon, in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia, are being advised to prepare for possible flooding.

The ABC reports more than 120mm of rain has been recorded in the area over the past two days.

The Bureau of Meteorology says more than 20mm has fallen since 9am Friday and slow moving thunderstorms expected to bring further downpours.

In December, major floods in Carnarvon and the Gascoyne region destroyed crops, roads and community infrastructure.
