More cases of swine flu expected in Australia

The Australian government has warned of a sharp increase is expected in the number of swine flu cases over the weekend.

As of 10.40pm AEST on Friday, 209 people in Australia were confirmed as having the virus.

While more cases are expected, Health Minister Nicola Roxon says the situation is under control.

Pharmaceutical company CSL Ltd has confirmed the first batches of a vaccine would be ready by August.

The federal government has ordered enough doses for 10 million people while the United States has placed an order worth $US180 million.

Victoria has 138 cases. Seven of the state's schools are now closed.
