The UN Security Council has voted to extend its peacekeeping mandate in Cyprus for another six months.
The council voted 14-1 on Friday to extend the mandate for the mission until 15 December. Turkey voted against the resolution.
Cyprus was split by a Turkish invasion in 1974 triggered by a brief Greek-inspired coup. The two communities live on separate sides of a ceasefire line manned by U.N. soldiers.
However, reunification talks started in September. Earlier on Friday, Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat said peace talks could produce a deal by early next year.
Previous reunification efforts on Cyprus collapsed in 2004 when Greek Cypriots rejected a UN blueprint accepted by Turkish Cypriots.
