Further safety recalls for Toyota

Toyota has recalled another two million cars in the United States over safety concerns.

The recall is the latest blow for the embattled Japanese automaker, which has recalled 14 million vehicles worldwide since 2009.

The company says the latest 2.17 million vehicles to be recalled have carpet and floor mats that are unsecured or ill-fitting and could jam gas pedals, causing the car to accelerate without the driver pushing the pedal.

It says Toyota and Lexus dealers will fix or replace the carpets at no charge.

The voluntary recall includes several model years of Toyota's Highlander, GS, RX, 4Runner, Lexus LX570 and RAV4 models.
