A friend of former Haitian dictator Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier says he has been hospitalised after having chest pains.
Enzo Alcindor, a Duvalier family friend, says doctors plan more tests and it is hoped the former president will be released after two days.
Duvalier, 59, made a surprise return to Haiti in January after 25 years in exile.
He is living in a villa in the hills above Port-au-Prince under police guard while a judge investigates whether he can be charged with a long list of crimes, including corruption and torture.
Duvalier was ousted in 1986. He assumed power in 1971 at age 19 following the death of his father, Francois "Papa Doc" Duvalier.
