Another defection reported from Libyan govt

Another minister in the Libyan government is reported to have defected and travelled to Europe.

Deputy foreign minister for European affairs Abdelati Obeidi has crossed into Tunisia and is said to have flown to the Greek capital, Athens.

Last week foreign minister Mousa Kousa arrived in the United Kingdom and said he was no longer willing to represent the regime of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

An uprising against Colonel Gaddafi began in February. The rebels are now assisted by a UN 'no-fly' zone and attacks on government forces by Coalition air forces.

The BBC reports neither side has the power to obtain an outright military victory, but neither is weak enough to be forced into serious peace negotiations.
