Turmoil in Arab countries escalated sharply on Friday, with security forces in Syria and Yemen opening fire on demonstrators, killing or wounding scores.
In the southern Syrian city of Deraa, at least 10 people were reportedly shot dead.
Anger over the rule of President Bashar al-Assad erupted after Friday prayers.
There were also protests in the western city of Homs and gunfire was heard in the suburb of Harasta in Damascus.
In Yemen, dozens of protesters seeking the ouster of President Ali Abdullah Saleh were reportedly wounded in clashes with security forces in the southern city of Taiz.
