An Iraqi immigrant has been sentenced to prison for 34 years in the United States for killing his daughter because she had become too Westernised.
Faleh Hassan Almaleki was found guilty by a jury in Arizona of murdering Noor Almaleki, 20, by running her over with his car in Phoenix, Arizona, on 20 October, 2009.
She died from her injuries after being in a coma for two weeks.
The BBC reports Almaleki fled to London, where he was caught and sent back to Arizona.
He was convicted on Friday of second-degree murder.
According to court records. Noor Almaleki refused to enter into an arranged marriage in Iraq, which enraged her father.
She then began living with her boyfriend and his mother at 19 years of age, after saying her parents had hit her.
