A ship chartered by an aid agency has evacuated about 1000 people from the rebel city of Misrata, which is under siege by Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's forces in Libya.
The International Organisation for Migration says thousands more are waiting to be rescued in an increasingly perilous situation.
Another ship took away nearly 1200 migrants from Misrata on Friday.
Forces loyal to Colonel Gaddafi continue to bombard the city with rockets and artillery.
Meanwhile, the United Nations has called for a ceasefire in order to help civilians caught in the fighting. But it says it has not received a good response.
