Aircraft grounded at Tel Aviv airport

6:16 am on 6 May 2011

Israel has grounded most aircraft at Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion international airport after routine checks found aviation fuel supplies there were contaminated.

Only planes that flew in with sufficient fuel to reach their next destination are being allowed to depart.

The cause of the contamination is not known.

Officials say it was discovered early enough to ensure that no plane took off with potentially contaminated supplies.
