Emmy nominations for Flight of the Conchords

A New Zealand comedy music duo is among the Emmy nominations for best TV comedy series.

Flight of the Conchords is nominated alongside Entourage, 30 Rock, The Office, Family Guy, Weeds, and How I Met Your Mother.

Jemaine Clement, who makes up half of the Conchords on HBO, is also nominated for best actor in a comedy.

Other nominations include Charlie Sheen from [Two and a Half Men, Steve Carell of The Office and Alec Baldwin from 30 Rock.

Baldwin won the award last year. 30 Rock has 22 nominations overall.

The Emmy winners will be announced on 20 September.

Flight of the Conchords are also nominated for music and lyrics and comedy-writing. Director James Bobin is nominated for best comedy directing.

The Conchords were unsuccessfully nominated for writing and music awards at last year's Emmys.

Australian nominees

Three Australians have been nominated for Emmys.

Toni Collette has been nominated for the comedy series actress award for her role in United States of Tara.

Rose Byrne has been nominated for the supporting actress in Damages.

Simon Baker is nominated for best actor in a drama series for his role in a crime drama, The Mentalist.
