Indian students have again been the victims of street violence in Australia.

The latest attacks occurred in Wollongong, south of Sydney.

A spate of attacks on Indian students in Melbourne and Sydney led to national and international headlines over the safety of foreign students in Australia.

The New South Wales and Federal Governments have committed to developing an international student strategy to allay safety fears.

The ABC reports two Indian students were beaten by a group of four to five men who reportedly jumped out of a white hatchback car early on Friday morning, near a pub in Wollongong.

The men were taken to hospital in a taxi following the assault and one underwent a brain scan.

Local police say they received a call about the attack, which happened at about 12.30am AEST, but found nothing when they arrived at the scene.

They have since spoken to the victims, who were treated in hospital for minor injuries. Police say the victims did not want to press charges.
