Huge waves swamp Fiji hotel rooms

Huge waves have swamped dozens of hotel rooms and damaged sea walls at tourist resorts in Fiji.

Police say there were no reports of casualties as waves dumped logs and debris on the Coral Coast, Fiji's main tourist destination, on Friday morning.

Some tourists at the Tambua Sands resort had to move to higher ground after water entered their rooms and 30 rooms were swamped at the Shangri-La resort, AFP reports.

Police warned motorists in the area to drive cautiously, while the Fiji Meteorological Service said there was a risk of more heavy swells later on Friday as a low pressure trough moved across the Pacific nation.
