More help is being drafted into the city of Joplin in the US state of Missouri to find 1500 people listed as missing after a tornado struck.

The storm killed at least 125 people and an estimated 750 people have been treated in hospital.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon says he has ordered 20 more state troopers to Joplin to help speed up the process of identifying remains and helping look for the missing, CNN reports.

Mr Nixon says he acted after he became aware of complaints that the search process was moving too slowly.
