At least six people died in Poland and the Czech Republic on Thursday amid high winds and heavy rain.

Dozens of others were injured as trees and electricity poles were felled and roofs ripped off.

Officials said winds were recorded at up to 100km per hour across a wide area of Poland. Several trees were uprooted in the capital Warsaw.

In the Czech Republic, fallen trees damaged electricity lines and disrupted rail traffic in several places, including the capital Prague.
