Ferry service to resume

9:57 am on 12 June 2011

Officials in India say a new passenger ferry service will start on Monday, re-connecting India and Sri Lanka after a suspension of more than 25 years.

A twice weekly ferry will travel between the Sri Lankan capital Colombo and Tuticorin in southern India.

Services were suspended when Sri Lanka's war against Tamil Tiger rebels escalated.
