Global credit crisis main topic at Brisbane conference

The impact of the global credit crisis on the Pacific will be the main topic of discussion at the Lowy Conference in Brisbane on Monday in the lead-up to the Pacific Islands Forum.

New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully is attending the conference where Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and European Commission Director-General for Development Stefano Manservisi will speak.

The Lowy conference is seen as an important curtain-raiser to the Pacific Islands Forum which begins in Cairns on Tuesday.
