NATO forces in Afghanistan say they have killed an insurgent leader linked to an assault on a Kabul hotel in which two New Zealand soldiers were wounded.
Twenty-two people died at Intercontinental Hotel, including the nine attackers, on Tuesday.
NATO says Ismail Jan, a leader of the al-Qaeda linked Haqqani network, was killed in an air strike in eastern Afghanistan.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for Tuesday's attack, but the NATO-led Security Assistance Force believes the Haqqani network was also involved.
The New Zealand SAS soldiers who sustained what are being described as "moderate blast fragmentation wounds" in the attack are being treated in Kabul.
New Zealand has 38 SAS members and support staff based in the capital.
