Vampire drama tops Teen Choice awards

A teen vampire drama has dominated the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles, winning 11 prizes.

Awards won by Twilight include best drama, romance, movie villain and soundtrack.

Its young stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart also received acting prizes in the drama category.

The event, which is now in its 11th year, honours celebrities in TV, film, music and sports, with winners voted by the public online.

More than 85 awards are handed out during the show, with such diverse categories as best "hissy fit", rumble and celebrity pet.

Teen star Miley Cyrus received six awards, including wins for comedy TV show, actress and music single.

Her father, country star Billy Ray Cyrus, also won the prize given for the best on-screen parent.

The Jonas Brothers, who hosted the event, won five trophies.

TV drama Gossip Girl collected more awards for TV drama and acting.

Britney Spears was honoured with the Ultimate Choice award and presented with a special blue surfboard-shaped trophy.

Other winners included: Beyonce, American Idol finalist David Archuleta, Taylor Swift and Jason Mraz, who picked up two awards each in the music categories.
