Iran has summoned Argentina's top diplomat in Tehran after the country complained about the nomination of a man who has been linked to a terrorist bombing in Buenos Aires.

Argentine authorities say Ahmad Vahidi planned a 1994 bombing of a Jewish centre in the capital.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad nominated Ahmad Vahidi to the post of defense minister last week. He is expected to be approved by Iran's parliament.

Argentina's foreign ministry called the nomination an affront and has condemned the move.
