The Australian Immigration Department is to film the first group of asylum seekers processed under a new refugee swap deal with Malaysia and post the video on YouTube.
The ABC reports the move is part of an internet campaign by the the department to deter asylum seekers from making the trip to Australia by boat.
The department says the detainees will be filmed as they are moved from Christmas Island, board a plane to Malaysia and check into accommodation there.
It says the internet is an ideal way to deter people smugglers and those tempted to make the trip.
The first boatload of people to be processed under the asylum seeker swap deal arrived on Christmas Island on Monday.
Their boat was intercepted by HMAS Ararat on Sunday morning. It carried 54 refugees, mainly males from Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran, and two crew.
