Two dead in Sydney school bus crash

Two people have now been confirmed dead after a collision between a school bus and a car in southern Sydney on Friday.

Both people were in the car which crashed into the bus just before 8am local time on Heathcote Road at Lucas Heights, the ABC website reports.

The male driver of the car, who was aged about 50 from Hinchinbrook, died at the scene while the female passenger was taken to St George Hospital after being trapped in the wreckage for some time.

Police have confirmed that she has also died.

About 40 children from the Sutherland Shire Christian College were on the bus when the crash happened and have all been taken to hospital as a precaution.

Two children were airlifted to the Children's Hospital at Westmead, but none are believed to have life-threatening injuries.
