Parents living around crippled Fukushima Dasiichi nuclear power plant in Japan are sending their children away from the area.
The ABC reports others are staying, but are keeping their children indoors and banning them from playing in parks which may have been exposed to radiation.
Schools are removing top soil and are also forbidding students from playing outside. Playground radiation levels are checked every day.
More than 85,000 people have been evacuated from a 20km zone around the plant since the earthquake and tsunami on 11 March. The disaster has also contaminated farm produce.
