The Swedish Royal Court has announced that Crown Princess Victoria is pregnant and is due to give birth in March 2012.
The news had been widely anticipated since her wedding to her former personal trainer, Daniel Westling, now known as Prince Daniel, on 19 June, 2010.
"I have a lot to look forward to this autumn," Victoria, 34, told the Aftonbladet daily shortly after the announcement on Wednesday.
Victoria is first in line to the throne of Sweden. Her baby will be second in line to the throne.
Several recent surveys have shown a majority of Swedes would prefer her to her father King Carl XVI Gustaf, who for the past year has been embroiled in several scandals, as head of state.
